I’ve already posted an initial version of this piece, this is a revised and slightly longer version. It’s a short and simple mystery story but the mystery is not of the usual kind. That’s all I can say. I’m not normally one for writing romance but this is bitter-sweet. I hope you don’t find too cheesy/corny, if you do let me know!
A really short quiz format story inspired by the German term “Innerer Schweinehund” which translates to Inner Pig Dog. I think it’ll become clearer reading the piece what this means but I would say something like your inner demon. The part of you that is self-indulgent and lacking self-control. It’s certainly a big part of […]
Lives in A Dream
An imagined continuation (with illustrations!) of the Beatles song ‘Eleanor Rigby.’ I’ve continued the profoundly sad song, which centres on old-age loneliness, by focusing on Eleanor’s experience beyond the grave as she reflects on her own dreams and those of others.
Creators’ Rating
A short philosophical story in which our creators take us on a journey of exploration to other strange universes, with the aim of answering a human’s final question.
A Monster
A horror flash-fiction. The theme is disturbing and sensitive so I have included a writers note below. Firstly, it is a horror story. I am a big lover of horror stories. Secondly, for now I’ll leave it to you to decipher, there is an underlying message. Overall, I hope you enjoy and it is thought-provoking. Don’t forget to let me know what you think.
The Umbrella Guy
A short story inspired by a sad and true tale. The Umbrella Guy explores and reflects on grief. It questions whether it is ever the lesser evil to lie instead of telling a painful truth.
Frogs in Hot Water
A very short flash-fiction inspired by climate change. It’s probably somewhere in-between a flash-fiction and a poem. It’s probably a little abrasive in parts but don’t worry I’m screaming at myself just as much as others. I hope it makes you think about what actions we could take now. Let me know what you think.
The Wooden Palace
This short story is set on another world but is inspired by a particular era in our history. I won’t ruin it by telling you! I hope you work out the allegory by the end and leave the story feeling empowered.
Bungalow Palace
The first (longer-length) short story I ever completed. It starts as a dark and slightly whimsical fairy-tale but turns into a dark psychological tale with an intended underlying message. It will disturb you in its latter highly surreal sections. I would love to know what you think about the epilogue and whether you think I should keep it as I’m unsure. Thanks for reading.
Wolf Town
I love my hometown very much, it is my safe haven and filled with inspirational people. This short poem is inspired by my town Ulverston, UK.
